In these months leading up to the next presidential election one would hope that the candidates for office would willingly be announcing their fight against toxins being put into our food or to push the FDA, the USDA and the U.S. Environment Protection Agency to serve the people of the United States in a more responsible manner.
MSG is defined as a flavor enhancing acid that is used in food processing, packaging and in many fast foods. It is an excitatory neurotransmitter and neurotoxin and is often added to Chinese foods and other sources of nutrition like baby foods, baby formulas (MSG gets formed when soy protein and milk protein are processed) it can also be found in beef stock, beef jerky, beverages, candy, canned soups, cheese, chewing gun to name a few.
Asthma attacks, Alzheimer’s disease, brain damage, cancer, chest pains, diarrhea, heart disease, memory loss and nausea are just some of the side effects that MSG can cause. It should also be noted that weight gain from MSG can be very difficult to lose.
Many manufacturers have hidden or disguised the MSG in their products by using alternate names that people do not recognize or would suspect that such harmful chemicals to be used in products such as yeast extract, calcium caseinate, protein isolate and texture protein and some have even gone to the point of labeling MSG under vague terms such as “natural flavors” or” seasonings.”
The biggest question that we should be asking is why is the FDA siding with the Glutamate, food and drug industry in claiming that MSG is good for you? Their most blatant lie is that there is no science to indicate that MDG is unsafe. I’m no scientist but even I can look up on the internet using key words like a keyword like ”glutamic acid” and combining it with a search such as learning disabilities, brain lesions, migraine headaches, asthma, seizures, schizophrenia, and I come to my own realization that there is strong evidence that MSG is toxic and harmful.
Studies have also shown that people who drank diet sodas with aspartame as opposed to those who avoided diet sodas had 500% larger waistlines. It appears to me that diet sodas are appropriately named-after you drink them you Will need to be on a diet.
There was also a situation in the past where the FDA denied aspartame (used in diet soft drinks)
approval for over 8 years until the newly appointed FDA commissioner Arthur Hayes overruled the final scientific review panel and approved aspartame, and then went to work for G.D Searle’s who was the initial owner of Aspartame, making a cool $1000 per day. To this date Mr. Hayes has refused all interviews to discuss this. The FDA did urge Congress to prosecute G.D. Searle’s for “specific false statements or concealed facts” stemming from Searle’s testing of aspartame. However the two government lawyers who were assigned to the case decided against prosecuting G.D Searle and went to work for Searle’s law firm instead.
In this day and age it would seem safer to eat food items in which we know the true ingredients and can see what goes into the preparation and avoid food products with MSG all together. To eliminate this additive from your diet try to avoid processed foods, and if you must eat something that is prepackaged read the label carefully. Keep in mind to watch out for hidden MSG’s even when you are choosing health brand articles from health food stores. Avoid items with ingredients such as yeast protein and that are ultra pasteurized as this process can cause free glutamates to form. Also avoid fast food altogether and try to eat in restaurants that offer healthy MSH-free meals.
