I am not talking about hot dogs either nor actually eating a dog, but owning one.   Yes having a Fido around can actually be good for your health and fitness state.  If you had to choose over having a dog or a cat you would be better off getting a dog a recent study has shown.  While people out there today are paying top dollars for fitness coaches or life coaches all you have to do is to get a dog as they have a wonderful energy whenever it’s time for that walk and they are incredible motivators when it’s time to go and will not let you forget.  Dogs have an internal clock and they just know when it’s time to get out on the streets for some old stretching, sniffing and trotting around.  You can also count and depend on your dog’s ability to keep going and going and I have always been amazed at their ability to have instant energy and longevity in their walks, which can motivate the person walking them and keep them on track for just a few more laps.  If you walk your dog for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon this will basically be all the exercise that you will need and this is the requiem amount of exercise recommended by almost every fitness expert, just one hour per day 6 days a week.

Yes it is a bit of a responsibility to own an dog but is a worthwhile investment in home security, someone who is always happy to see you, and I mean always, also a dog because it is a social animal can also add some of the family feelings around your home especially in those who are away from their families like students or servicemen.    Just having a dog around can easily reduce tension as a recent study has shown that a person could lower their blood pressure and reduce their chances of heart disease by just petting a dog.  Another test also showed that senior citizens who had a dog outlived those who did not have one.  Dogs are expert in giving one unconditional love and have been used extensively in therapies to alleviate those with certain types of depressions. They are always dependable, do not argue and almost always obey.  The most important part of this advice is that if you do consider getting a dog make sure that they get put through an a local dog obedience school as a dog can easily give you lots of unwanted stress if not properly trained that can take you to the grave earlier that you planned.  Also stay away from small poodle type dogs as their energy is overwhelming and they will also want to pick a fight with every dog in town which will add more stress to your life.  All said and done if you are looking for fun, wholesome and smart ways to lose weight, stay fit and enjoy life more try getting a dog.
