Over 30 million Americans are currently taking statin drugs to reduce their cholesterol levels but are almost completely unaware that these drugs are also causing diabetes and memory loss in many.
Just last week of this year the FDA announced the need for new warnings for very popular statin drugs such as Crestor, Lipitor and Zocor. The new labels will have such warnings that statin drugs will cause hyperglycemia and can increase the risk of diabetes in those who take it. These statin drugs will also cause memory loss and confusion in many of its patients.
The connections were first reported in a 2008 study where 18,000 Crestor patients were tested. Soon thereafter another study was done which confirmed the latest study, which was published in the Lancet. Although the FDA recommends that you discuss this with you doctor you should keep taking statin drugs to lower your cholesterol.
Dr. Mary Parks from the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research says, “We want healthcare professionals and patients to have the most current information on the risks of statins, but also to assure them that these medications continue to provide an important health benefit of lowering cholesterol,”
It sounds like Big Pharma doesn’t want you to throw their corporate profits down the drain just because of some silly side effects like diabetes and losing your memory. These warnings are more about protecting their wallets more than protecting patients and most importantly keeping you sick so they can legally take all your money and life.
