When processing occurs in grains such as rice, oats and wheat the outer layer is removed and sadly this is where a great deal of the nutritious value is of the particular crop.
Bran is made of an insoluble dietary fiber and does not break the same way that grains stripped of them.  Bran has incredible gastrointestinal tract benefits as it is a pro biotic food which helps greatly in controlling your weight to battling heart disease and has natural antibacterial fighting properties.
The most commonly known way to eat bran is by eating muffins or cereals.
Since bran is great in aiding the digestion it is the worst enemy of bacteria which if left untouched may cause ulcers and even more serious diseases.  In aiding the digestion it also helps to soften then bulk the stool which gets everything moving down there and running smoothly.  Remember that foods that sit and sit in your digestion tract all the way down to your colon will grow bacteria over time and trouble will arise slowly. If you are constantly constipated first drink more water and stop drinking soda drinks, coffee and energy drinks then include more bran in your diet again drink more water and things will start to happen down there.  Insoluble fats cruise through your digestive tract picking up any bacteria along its path and the faster and consistently that it can move through your bowels the cleaner they will be.  Have you ever wondered why after gorging on a large pizza with everything from those colorful ads on TV with a friend or perhaps after eating the Wendy’s midnight special  your visits to the throne all but halt.  I have personally experienced this while working on a heavy writing assignment and could only break to order fast food.  My visits to the bathroom where halted to perhaps one per day and then it was not satisfying or fulfilling.  I then changed to drinking a fiber and bran fruit drink in the morning and following it up with veggies in every meal, bran muffins as snacks, water, baking breads with bran and most importantly staying away from fast foods, junk foods and sodas and my visits to the throne were very satisfying and constant to say the least.  Fast foods are a digestive tracts worst enemy as they are all processed, each and every burger patty, to french fry to ice cold chocolate shake and lay the foundation for bacteria to fester and do serious damage.
If you suffer from diarrhea you can eat bran as well as it is great in firming up your stool.  Bran is also great in lowering your chances of heart disease and high cholesterol levels and has been proven to prevent heart disease and stroke.
When bran gets into your system it absorbs water and can give you a feeling of fullness which has helped many eat less and enjoy what they eat more.  Eating it regularly may also help to prevent colon cancer. With these possible benefits, there’s very few excuses not to eat bran.  the best way to take bran is by consuming whole grains and whole grain cereals, rice, and bread.

By eating wisely and looking for opportunities to include more bran in your diet you will be able to enjoy a better quality of life.
