Although the cause of colon cancer is still unsure there are many ways in which you can avoid this perhaps by a lifestyle change or clinical.  Screening is also a good way to detect any cancerous growths as an undetected growth can go for several years before it actually develops into cancer.   Those who smoke are at a higher risk to develop cancer especially if they are smokers.

It has been shown that those who take ibuprofen and aspirin can reduce their chances of developing polyps and colon cancer but one should be careful with these medicines as well as even these pills have crazy side effects like bleeding in the stomach due to stomach ulcerations or in other words they cause ulcers, great huh, that simple aspirin can cause you some very scary and painful bleeding as an ulcer.

Colon cancer usually shows itself in the form of polyps in the large intestine but does not manifest itself with any symptoms.  Some symptoms do show themselves like fatigue, breathlessness and irritable bowels to name a few.  Those with it may notice a change in their bowel movements or have frequent diarrhea or constipation as well as unexpected weight loss, bloating and blood in the stool.

Colon cancer can take years to root itself in the intestines and multiply but despite the prolonged development cycle it can be difficult to discern as the symptoms do not show at all until the growth and damage is quite significant thus it can be called the silent killer giving those who have been diagnosed with it little or no chance at surviving treatment therapy. These growths can cause an obstruction in the bowels and especially if the left side of the colon is blocked the patient is most likely to go through diarrhea and or constipation as well as abdominal cramps, bloating and narrowed stool and these will continue despite a person’s regular eating habits.

A person should eat lots of fruit and vegetable foods containing a high range of multi-vitamins and folic acids as well as exercising at least for 30 minutes per day for five days a week to lower their chances of colon cancer.
