Well the first of the big holiday weekends is behind us and like most of us many are feeling the repercussions of the overindulgence in food and sweets that were eaten throughout the days and nights during this last weekend. I am personally feeling the lack of energy, unsettled stomach and even swings in mood that accompanies excessive eating and how can we be to blame after eating pies, cakes, traditional Christmas sweets and even the belly warming eggnog that was especially delicious (and strong) this year. Now is the time to get out of that couch or desk and do something about it instead of feeling sorry for ourselves.
If you can properly apply these tips into your daily schedule then you should be able to feel a lot better soon and get in shape for this next weekend in which we are sure to repeat the whole overindulgence process all over again.
- First off start by drinking lots of water, especially in the morning. Your body needs to flush all of the toxins that it acquired this weekend. The recommended amount of water is around 8 cups per day so take it up to 10 cups per day. This should keep your internal organs especially lubricated to recover from the excess and keep you fit to keep burning those extra calories. The average American ingests around 25 calories just from sodas alone per day or better said around 25 more pounds are gained all year this way. So anytime you get an urge to drink something go for water first.
- Go for a nice long 45 minute walk each day. Although 30 minutes of walking will suffice 45 minutes will do wonders as you can burn an extra 300 calories per day or 30 pounds per year this way and you can basically keep your healthy diet the same.
- Try using the color blue more in your décor and clothing. If you look closely the next time you’re in a restaurant the color blue is hardly ever used, and for a very good reason. Basically the color blue triggers suppression in a persons appetite so by putting a blue table cloth on your dinner table and adding blue picture on in the kitchen and dining room you will aiding yourself wonderfully in keeping your appetite under control.
You must remember that you still have another heavy weekend ahead of you so the better you are in shape to deal with it the better you will also be able to get through it. Here’s wishing you a happy new year.
