This times its chief executive of Second Mile John Raykovitz.  He submitted his resignation after 28 years as Second Mile CEO on Sunday to the groups 40 board members.  The nonprofit charity was originally funded by the accused Jerry Sandusky who was a long time assistant football coach at Penn State University to help disadvantaged kids.  Jerry Sandusky is officially accused with sexually molesting 8 boys through the Second Mile programs during a 15 year time period.

Mr. Raykovitz was informed about the alleged abuse between Sandusky and a boy in a Penn State shower in 2002 according to the grand jury report which was released on November 4.  In this report the CEO of Second Mile John Raykovitz was informed that Jerry Sandusky was seen in a locker room shower with a boy but was not told of the seriousness of the allegations that are contained in the Grand Jury report.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett

The charity Second Mile has been ordered to be investigated by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett who was the attorney general when the sex abuse probes begin back in 1998.  He has stated that he is anxious to know what the Second Mile board members knew about the abuse allegations.  Many donors to Second Mile have suspended their financial contributions and many honorary members and high profile professional athletes have distanced themselves from Second Mile.

Also State Sen. Jake Corman, who himself is a board member and has been since 2010, said this last Sunday that everyone on the Second Mile board “is in shock. These are horrific charges. If true, someone that everyone held up with the highest esteem possible turns into a monster.”
