Is your child one of the ones that is missing out on the four essential nutrients like fiber, potassium, vitamin D and calcium?  Well according to the U.S governments new proposed dietary guideline this may be true.  Vitamin D is one of them and is found in foods like eggs, fortified milk, fish, and cod liver oil.  Vitamin D In and of itself is ineffective but when consumed Vitamin D is metabolized to its biological and active form.  Thus it can enter the circulation and transport its riches to the liver to do its good.  10 minutes in the sun can also aid you in preventing deficiencies since the sun also contributes greatly to the daily manufacturing of Vitamin D in your body.

Be sure your child is getting all the nutrients he/she needs.

Fiber can help in reducing cholesterol levels, promote regular bowel movements, improve glucose levels in diabetics and decrease the risk of breast and colon cancer.  Dietary fiber can be found in plants foods such as fresh vegetable, fruit, grains, breads, pastas, cereals and beans. Pasta for your famous spaghetti Bolognese can also be high in fiber if it is made from whole grain.

Calcium is an important mineral used throughout your body to heal and protect. Calcium is also crucial for strong bones and teeth and it has been known that calcium deficiency can lead to disorders like osteoporosis (weak bones).  A good source of calcium can come from foods such as fermented soy bean milk and breakfast cereals.  This is ever so important not only for older woman and teenagers but especially for children.

Potassium is the third most abundant mineral in the human body.    Its contents are crucial for maintaining a high level of human cheerfulness and feel good attitude.  Everyone should have a good amount of potassium in their diets. Avocados are rich in potassium, as well as cocoa powder, chocolate, raisins, sunflower seeds and fish.  Aside from being an electrolyte this mineral is important for keeping your kidneys, brain, muscle tissues, heart and other important organs in the human body.

A well balance diet must contain these four nutrients in order to have your Childs body not only perform but defend itself at its best.
