Yes it is and I’m not talking about rubbing on your skin either, although that really is good for your skin as well as your skin absorbs some of the nutrients in the oil.  For decades fishermen on the coast and on islands have been using shark oil for a vast variety of good and healthy reasons.  Shark liver oil is currently used as an alternative type of treatment for many forms of cancer as it has demonstrated the ability to inhibit tumor growth in alkoxyglycerol-treated cancer patients and many other diseases. Shark oil is an incredible and rich source of alkylglycerols which contain powerful anti-cancer properties and are also found in breast milk human and bone marrow.

Shark oil has for centuries been used as an complementary medicine to boost a person’s immune system, treat cancer, promote quick healing in wounds and to lessen the severity of side effects of cancer treatment. It has even been used by Scandinavian and Caribbean fishermen in the treatment of certain skin conditions.  Shark liver oil has also been used in lip balms to moisturize and prevent chapping of the lips.  There have been various non-profit independent studies which have revealed that shark liver oil can cure such serious diseases as AIDS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis or even psoriasis.  Most studies concerning shark liver oil are limited and inconclusive; and many medical researchers have concluded shark liver oil shows promise and a subject that warrants further studying.

People who have allergies or are hypersensitive to fish should not take shark liver oil or omega-3 fatty acid products derived from fish as there have been reported cases of anaphylaxis and skin rash in people who are allergic to nuts or certain alpha linolenic acid or omega-3 fatty acid (both contained in shark liver oil supplements) products that are obtained from nuts they are allergic to.

although there is medical research that indicates shark liver oil can be very beneficial to certain health conditions, there is a need for ongoing studies to further understand everything there is to know.  But there is enough information to know whether or not shark liver oil is completely safe.
