A muscle cramp generally means that your body is lacking and needing calcium, potassium and magnesium and it is this combination of these substances that aid your body in regulating the activity in your muscles and nerves.  It can also be a result of overuse and strain injuries and occurs particularly in areas which are repeatedly used such as the elbow muscles, upper and lower leg muscles and shoulders and neck and shoulder. But before you go reaching for that Gatorade think about getting rid of your cramps naturally.  In many independent laboratory tests Gatorade has been proven to be very lacking in anything healthy and mostly packed with high fructose corn syrup which does give you a boost but take a toll in your health in the long run.  The name of the game is prevention so the following suggestion will be extremely helpful in keeping muscle cramps away for good.

Of course the first thing to do in ridding yourself of cramps is to have a healthy diet and eat lots of foods high in potassium, magnesium and calcium this way you will never actually ever have to deal with cramps in the first place.

  • So start by eating foods such as organic milk and yoghurt, broccoli, salmon, sardines for a rich source of calcium.  Kale, brussel sprouts, mackerel and turnip greens are also wonderful sources of this wonderful healthy substance.
  •  If our looking for magnesium try eating foods rich in it like almonds, barley, spinach, black and white beans and pumpkin seeds to name a few.
  • And if its potassium your looking for eat foods like bananas, strawberries, watermelon, again salmon and beans, turkey, peas, green beans and tomatoes to also name a few.

A good stretch will also do wonders in cramp prevention as a muscle needs to be properly warmed up and gently stretched to be able to deal with periods of radius activity to take the time to stretch.
