“Smoothies pull double duty by quenching thirst and satisfying hunger at the same time; they can be easily tailored to suit every individual needs. And even kids with dairy allergies can enjoy them. They’re also a great way to sneak more fiber and antioxidants into your kids.”

Prep time: 2 minutes

Blender time: 30 seconds

Ingredients:

  • ¾  cup peeled and cubed fresh papaya( it should be very orange and leave an indentation after pressing on it before peeling) (save two cubes for garnish)
  • ¾  cup fresh zapote(look for it in your favorite Latin American food store)
  • ¼ of ripe banana
  • 1 heaping tbls. Peanut butter (crunchy variety)
  • 1 cup Fresh orange juice ( with the pulp)
  • 1 tbls. Honey
  • Dash vanilla extract

Blend & pour into a Hurricane or Collins glass & garnish with fresh papaya cube and a vanilla bean stalk & straw

Flair tip: when about to pour the mixture into the glassware, first insert the straw in the blender and place it so that it edges against the part of the blender where the mix will come out of.  NOW, make your pour with confidence and pour the drink into the glass. Please do not try to catch the straw as it goes into the glass.  The straw will automatically slide gently into the glass as long as you pour with confidence.  Hence you will have performed your first bar trick and impressed all your friends.  Try it at your next cocktail party with a pina colada or frozen Daiquiri.  For the bartenders out there try to do this every time you have a frozen drink order, and perform it in front of the customer, your tips will go up, guaranteed.
