 DC vs. 5x5...
I want to change my routine in June to put on mass and gain strength. I wanted to hear some opinions on what you think the better routine is for the above mentioned goals or what other routine you would suggest for bulking.

How long have you been lifting, stats etc? DC really isn't a program for beginners.

I've been lifting for 2 years. I'm 5'11" and just cut down to 175lbs from 194, I'm not sure about bf%.

Start with the 5x5. I've done both, and got great results from both, but never felt like i was doing DC 100 percent.

The real 5x5 that bill starr came up with is awesome for beginners. I'ts how i train and i am not small by any means 5'11'' and 232 pounds 13%. When i started i was around 200 so it def works. Just eat and get your strength up then worry about DC. Just be consistent in your training.. constantly add weight to the bar and eat your ass off and you will grow.

After doing some of both I really don't like 5x5. DC all the way.

Based on this alone I think you should go with 5x5.

Unless you really understand DC Training, go with the 5x5. It works great for beginners and intermediate-level lifters. Plus, you can just plug-in your numbers and the spreadsheet will figure everything else out for you.

thanks for the advice. I'll give the 5x5 a try and see how it is.

here's the spreadsheet: http://www.geocities.com/elitemadcow...diate_v0.3.zip
It took a while but here it is. It was in the description of Bill Star's original 5x5 (very informative, helped a lot)

DC is a much more sophisticated program than the 5x5.. As long as you research enough on it and know how to do it...
