    Default home gym dumbbells
Alright guys, I need some dumbbells. I think the hex dbs went way up last time I checked. I only need dumbbells and I do get real annoyed by adding and removing plates on db handles. anyone here own the powerblock and is it worth it or should i just get some old fashioned hex dbs? i need 20s to at least 80s.

I know. the problem i run into is that i need to buy some oly plates for the barbell at the track and take them with me to do barbell ex. they only have 5's, 1 ten (someone jacked the other 2), a pair of 35's and a shitload of 45's. So im gonna need to get plates for that. But then I thought, oh..I could just get those olympic DUMBELL HANDLES. So i checked them out and they are ****in huge. they are uncomfortable and just get in the way. so idk if i want to do that. other options are standard plates but then i would have oly plates and standard and thats just stupid. that leaves hex dbs and powerblock shit which is a scam. i guess im left with hex dbs. i wonder if i can find some 5 pound magnet plates that i can stick onto the hex dbs so that way i could just buy them in 10 lb increments (20,30,40,etc)

assuming youd be using the magnet plates on both ends of the db to keep them balanced, then youd need 2.5# magnets.

Yes I realized I made a mistake and typed 5 pounds. I found a source for them...platemates. They have plates for a 1.25lb load, 2.5lb, 3.75lb and 5lb but its real expensive. Since you can't "stack" them, I would only get the 5 pound load (2.5lb each side of db). Wouldve been great to have 32.5lb dbs or 67.5lb etc. I guess if I bought the 2.5lb load (1.25 ea side of db) I would be able to have 22.5lb, 32.5lb, 42.5lb etc but never 27.5lb, 37.5lb, 47.5lb, etc which sucks. I would have to build something myself or attach a 2.5lb weight somehow around the dumbbell maybe if I wanted that. Maybe not though.
