Default Creatine, Glutamine, and other supplements
Hey guys. I am very new to this, I just started taking protien shakes.

I have been working out for about 6 months withought taking any kind of supplements, and 2 days ago I had my first protien shake (muscle milk).

First off, I know Whey protien is the best, but which kind? What do you guys reccomend? I heard Optimum protien is good but I really want to have a lot of opinions before I start buying.

The only reviews I have read are here, http://www.bigobb.com/pr2.htm , and they recommend Designer Whey the most.

Second, what is Creatine and what is Glutamine? I have heard a lot about the two and I want to start something that will help me gain muscle quicker.

I don't want to take steroids because I think it's cheating. I want to know a little more about Creatine and Glutamine before I start one of the two.

Also, do these have any side affects? I am very scared about any kind of products with wierd names. I don't want to **** up my body or shrink my balls. Help will be appreciated, thanks a lot.

No sides on creatine, maybe muscle cramps and a little water retention with monohydrate but thats it. The newer stuff (CEE) doesn't even cause cramps or water retention. Both are totally safe. Should help u make pretty good gains too.
ABout the glutamine, suppose to help u recover fast, but I can't say cuz I haven't taken any. Lots of people say its a waiste of $$. Would go w/the creatine 1st. Have tried v12, satur8 and both work very well. More expensive then monohydrate, but would be worth checking into. Monohydrate works good too. Just mix 5-10g w/16oz of apple juice or gatorade.
Try going to www.1fast400.com www.mysupplementstore.com www.dpsnutrition.com
Im really pleased with 1fast400 great service and fast too. All r good links I gave u. OH, u didn't say anything about NO2 but if u're thinking about it do NOT waiste your $$ on it. It Sux.

Also one more question, is this stuff bad for someone my age? I am 17 now, will be 18 in 3 weeks. Most people my age are taking supplements, I am just scared to stunt my growth or something else.

I had a friend here and his name was Sonny. He introduced me to this website but because of his age he was kicked off. He is insanely strong (he benched 240 the other day... and the kid is only 14!!) and he wants to start supplements too. Will it be bad for him? He seems kind of young to start all this stuff.

Thanks.

Oh and for Creatine, is it true that you have to take cycles and you can't just try it out for a few days?

creatine will not stunt your growth. some people will argue that creatine monohydrate that isnt absorbed into your blood is broken down into somewhat harmful byproducts that over time may affect your liver and possible other organs.

glutamine (L-glutamine) is supposed to slow the rate of catabolism in your muscles. therefore, making larger gains from protein synthesis.

No you cannot just try creatine for a few days. Before you see results, you will prob need to be on it for a few weeks.

Also, in referance to "cycling" creatine.. Some like to take double the regular dosage for a week ( loading phase ) to saturate the muscles with the creatine and after that week resume using the regular dosage.

Id go with Optimum Nutrition everyday, good price and really good products.

Creatine as said before wont give you any sides, it might (some ppl get some dont) hold a little water when using it. There aint nothing saying you cant be "on" all year. When loading up use 20g/day and then (youre new) you can start with 10g trainign days and 5 on rest days... on training days take it pre and post workout with dextrose. Glutamine works for me anyways, but i need somewhere over 40g/day for it to be worth it... its a cost issue i guess, nothing you need to start with.

A list you should check off is this:
Good Diet
Good Training
Good Sleep
Whey Protein
Dextrose
Omega 3

Then there is plenty more but this is something for you

Whey protein isnt the "best". Whey is a fast digesting protein which is best for pre- and post-workout. For other times during the day and before bedtime, you want a mix of slow and fast digesting proteins (whey/egg/casein/soy)

Second, what is Creatine and what is Glutamine? I have heard a lot about the two and I want to start something that will help me gain muscle quicker.
Creatine is ultimately converted in the body to ATP, which is used by muscles for energy and supplies power to the muscle in order to contract. Glutamine is a known anticatabolic agent and may be able to used as an antioxidant. Both of these products will HELP you put on size, but they arent magic powders.
I don't want to take steroids because I think it's cheating. I want to know a little more about Creatine and Glutamine before I start one of the two.
Creatine is naturally occuring, and glutamine is an amino acid. Theres nothing to worry about. Be sure to keep your water intake high with creatine
Also, do these have any side affects? I am very scared about any kind of products with wierd names. I don't want to **** up my body or shrink my balls. Help will be appreciated, thanks a lot.
Neither products have side effect issues. Creatine monohydrate can cause bloating, while CEE (creatine ester ethyl...a more efficient form of creatine) does not cause this. Some people also experience cramping due to low water intake. The only thing that will shrink your balls are things that cause your natural test production to shut down and as far as I know AAS/PH's are the only things to do this. Nothing you can buy legally will cause it.

As far as protein/supplement companies go TrueProtein is handsdown the best in product, pricing, and customer service I have ever dealt with. Plus their products are pure, bulk powders without additives or fillers, and with their mixes you know exactly what your getting. If youre ordering off the internet this is the route to take. If you buying from a store, id go with Optimum Nutrition.

www.bulknutrition.com is another favorite of mine for things that TP doesnt sell, which isnt much
