I think that it's not only OK to blend the seeds, it's required becuase I've heard that if the seeds aren't ground, the body is unable to digest them

really, that sux. i thought it was a qucik easy source to add some extra cals to the diet.

fish caps about 9 cals per pill the usually 1 gram of fat per pill or more depending on brand and type of fish, i use rexall from walmart 1500 mg ea cap...and also a borage, flax, and fish cap mixture just for the other efa's that are in it, i take a total of 8 caps a day ...easy to swallow.

I put flax meal in shakes alot. It doesn't affect flavor much, adds calories for energy, adds fiber, and adds all the health benefits of flax. It is especially good in your before bed shake, since it helps slow digestion.

hi. i have not posted here much but i do take flax seed. my mother has used flax seed mill for Years. the main reason why flax is good for you, it because it has alpha linolenic acids which is a type of omega-3 fatty acid. it also has anti oxidant properties and is almost ALL fiber. the fiber is good for your digestive track and only trace parts of it are absorbed. fiber is Not considered a nutrient because it isnt absorbed [insouable that is], but is very good for you nutrition wise.
its overall a good supplement with lots of health bennifets. the thing i will tell you about flax seeds, is its VERY cakey. when you mix it to something it sticks all over the spoon and cup. i use about 1-4 a cup with my whey protien and sugar free soy milk. it gives me something with more texture when for my shake.
if you havent taken it, i would say start out using only 1 tablespoon to see how your body reacts.

It is, I don't use the flax seed but i used olive oil instead because it's alwasy in my house...1tablespoon has 120 calories...The person that turned me on to it also suggested the flaxseed so i'd go for it.

I agree with the cakey comment. It does stick. I just have 2 table spoons in the morning and 2 tablespoons at night. Straight from the spoon. You'll get used to it. Just remeber its good for size.

I use the bulk Golden Flax Seeds from Wild Oats/Whole Foods, fill up to the blades in a coffee grinder (around 2 tbs), grind, then add to a whey shake. To me it tastes fine. If I'm in a hurry I'll just add the ground flax to a 1/2 cup of water, drink and go.
I don't like the taste of flax oil, so I don't use that in shakes but I'll use the flax caps as a supplement.
I like the benefit of using the ground flax for fiber as stated in the above posts, and the 'golden' flax type seeds tastes the best to me.
