Here's a dumb question... Is isolate actually a better protein? I know the answer is probably yes but why, it seems like alot of extra money to me

with isolate u get more protien per gram than with say concentrate....i think some were around 90+% of the pro were as concentrate u only absorb like 80% ...i think these are right if i remember corectly...here go check out this link www.bodybuilding.com/fun/catprot.htm it might be able to explain it better..

unless you have lactose problems, at the end of the day the difference between isolate and concentrate is minimal

A bit more protein, a bit less fat and lactose. Some people find that concentrates give them more gas, which is when isolate comes in handy.
