 Whats good for energy
Guys I know all of you on here that work hard all day have a hard time getting there energy before they work out. What would be a good supplement or vitaman that would give a good boost before a workout? I was just wondering what you all take excluding any caffine products.
Thanks

Frosty, are ephedrine and ephedra the same compound? I know that you said ephedrine is an alkaloid of ephedra, but is it still the same thing? Is it ok to take ephedrine? Or do I need to go with ephedra? And is it alright to take while bulking? I think it may be what caused my appetite to decrease some the other day, but I'm not sure. Any info?

Ephedrine is a part of the ephedra herb. Just like the pseudoephedrine in decongestants is also a part of the ephedra herb.
It's ok to go with ephedrine, but I personally just like to use the herb.
I think how you react to ephedrine and how strong your adrenals are would determine if it's ok while bulking. Preworkout only, regardless. If you have weak adrenals, then I wouldn't highly recommend against this. Otherwise, if you can handle a lot of stress, it might be ok. Even then I'd stick to using it before you do a lift you really want to improve. Like if your squat sucks, take it before squat day. How much you take is also individual. Some people require 50mg while other may only need 10 mg. Too much will just make you jittery and lightheaded. If it decreases your appetite, then it might be a good idea to skip it entirely on a bulker.
I personally skip it, because you gain muscle best when stress levels are at their lowest.

I only used it on squat day, like you said, and simply because my knees ache so much from past knee surgeries that I need something to help me push through. I'm not injuring them, they just ache because of arthritis. (Yeah, I have arthritis at 24. I've had 4 knee surgeries.) So, the ephedrine helped me keep going through the aching. But the next day, I didn't feel like eating. And I took 75mg.........maybe that was too much! I took MiniThins while I was in the Marine Corps over in Bosnia......for a little edge, and 75-100mg was what we took. 3 or 4 pills. I think I handle stress very well, learned to manage it well in combat.......you have to. Maybe I'll try 50mg this time, see how it works. Thanks Frosty.

Maybe you don't efficiently use fat for energy.

Well. :According to Dr. Laurie Cullen at the Women's Institute, when MCTs are absorbed into the blood stream, they bypass the digestion process that longer chain fats go through. MCT's provide quick energy for the body and are thus less likely to be stored in the fat cells.
I find it gives me a steady stream of energy. I can actually feel warm and more energetic with it.
Maybe you were on some other supp
Or you don't resond well to the mct.
and if thats true..u got some serious health probs

Medium Chain Triglyceride.
It can be found as a supplement, but coconuts are very rich in it (so you could use coconut oil, coconut milk, or coconut meat instead of a supplement).

I have and still use Parrililos oil as a part of my diet...sqiurt some in the coffee before a workout too (+fruit).I love the stuff. One of the only dietary supps I have used on and off forever(since it came out that is).Keeps the calories high, energy level up, has a thermogenic property that make me sweat, and gets my viens popin'....I have tried other brands, and they did not work as well.
peace

Why not?
That's like saying you shouldn't eat fish to get your omega-3s.

Frosty would you recommend it? Or is it just a waste of money?

I've eaten coconut, coconut oil, and coconut milk, and I've never noticed a "boost" of energy, but it does definitely make me hot. I tend to sweat after eating coconut. It would be better for cardio than lifting, since most lifting uses the anaerobic glycolysis system rather than the aerobic system. If you want to improve your running, it would be worth a shot. I have noticed this as well as people I know.
