Default I'll tell you who's got the best chance of beating Anderson Silva.
His name is Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza.

His style is kryptonite for Silva. There would be no standup. I'm sure he would get knocked out. But of the guys I've seen lately this is the first one I think has a decent shot.

Anderson's isn't that beatable. Jacare is probably one of the top 3 BJJ guys in the world, but MMA is a totally different game. Look at Marcelo Garcia. He was beating guys in BJJ that were 2-3 weight classes above him. In MMA he lost his first match from a cut and most of the 1st round they were on the ground (hasn't had fight #2 yet).

It's one thing to be a great BJJ guy, but you need to evolve your BJJ game into BJJ for MMA. It's tough trying to sink in a triangle choke. Now try putting on a triangle while the guy on top is raining down fists in your face.

BTW, I would love to see this fight

^^Great post!^^ BJJ and MMA-BJJ can be two different worlds at times.

Can't really attest to Souza, not too framiliar with him as a fighter or his style but the only one that's really come close to possibly beating Silva was Lutter. I know, he sucks, but he had Silva at one point during that fight. It might take a submission specialist to dominate Silva. Souza will need to be become a contender first...

You are overlooking the fact that his jiu jitsu game is perfectly adapted to mma. Most jits guys have problems with takedowns and imposing their will on opponents, this guy is a judo specialist.

GSP has the best shot but it will never happen. UFC wouldn't gain anything. I think that Silva is a lot more beatable than most people think. If Lutter didn't have smokers lungs he could've beaten Silva. If Henderson simply unlooped his foot when he hand side control he could've done some serious damage instead of hitting him with love tap hammer fists.

Having said that Silva is still a beast. But I think a real strong wrestler with descent Jitz or a guy with descent takedowns and great Jitz could beat that ass.

Standing, know one has a chance! His shit is flawless on the feet. Who throws effective front kicks... honestly?

You've got a point there... I mean most will tell you front kicks are useless in mma. We learn them as a defensive check or set up only. I use them for taller guys that I can't really check with my short ass jab's

Everyone says GSP vs Silva which is retarded.

I could possibly see GSP moving up to MW, at the same time Silva should move up to LHW.

What good does it do for Silva's career if he dominates everyone at 185lbs, then he beats a natural 170lb fighter? GSP has lots to gain from this fight and Silva has nothing to gain

Lutter did not almost beat Silva. I hate when people say that. Watch the match again. Silva chose to beat Lutter on the ground to avenge the loss of his training partner who Lutter arm barred in competition. Notice that the first time they go the ground it's because Silva tries a flying knee or triangle, I can't remember which, and the second time Silva just lets Lutter fall on him.

Silva would knock GSP out in the first round.
