    Default Uriah Faber/WEC
Just trying to spark a possible discussion..
For those who watch WEC and/or have seen Uriah Faber fight, thoughts?? Over rated, real deal, rising star, phenom, what??
I'll tell you this, I wasn't sold until I sat through his last two fights and wow. The kid is good. He's sharp and very quick to pull some crazy made up shit off and still make it look good/smooth... The part that's tough is the fact that he fights at feather weight/145 (not offered in UFC) where the competition is still hit and miss. Alot of folks would like to see him put on about 10lbs of LBM and make a move for the UFC..

No doubt the guy fights well. If you ask me he hasnt faced true top notch competition. The guys he has fought are defenatly not push overs or cans, but lets face it, the WEC's featherweight division isnt stacked. As for him moving up to light weight, he would have no problem. Im sure the guy walks around at 155 to 160 easy. You have to remember, alot of these guys, if not all cut weight to make their weight class. For example, Forrest Griffin, cuts 35 lbs to make it to light heavy weight. Rich Franklin cuts from about 210 to 215. Anyway, as you may or may not know, WEC is owned by Zuffa, which also owns UFC, so im sure if Uriah realy wanted in, he could get in. But right now the light weight division in the UFC is stacked and with top notch competition. I think Uriah likes it where he is, he is the golden boy of WEC right now and making his $$$.

agreed he reps WEC, IMO because hes not ready for the top notch, but he fought well versus pulver and i think he's the best fighter for his weight class right now. I haven't seen THAT many fighters that fight that small, but from what i've seen the kids a phenom...his wresling is world class, and his ground and pound is quite scary...he can also throw on his feet REAL well, some of his kicks are gnarly

right now he trains with bj, and basically gets his ass handed to him so i dont think hes gonna make that move anytime soon, but i would love to see the ufc add a 145 lb class and for him to come and fight there

As long as Faber is in the WEC he will have alot of "what if's" following him. Faber is young and can still develop in the WEC, then make his way up with the UFC when he is ready.

There isn't alot of competition at 145, so I am sure Faber has thought about fighting at 155lbs, but the time has to be right.

Not necessarily. Sean Sherk moves up to 170 and loses. Some people just need to stay at their natural weight class.

great fight, hes got a nice counter right hand, should keep it a little higher though a tall guy with a good jab could really bust him up
