Yankees win this afternoon 2-1 behind the strong pitching of Corey Lidle. They complete the five game sweep of the BoSox to open up a 6 1/2 game lead in the AL East.

In other words: Boston, start focusing on the wild card. You're done. You're finished. Game over man, game over. You got trounced in every game but the last one. The Red Sox pitching is now dog tired and their confidence level is at zero. 0!!!

I bet the Red Sox wish they had Johnny Damon back now, don't they? And what a difference Abreu has made since coming over to NY. A near .500 OBP?! Advantage: Yankees.

With the White Sox, Tigers, Twins, Rangers, and Angels (maybe) battling for the AL Wild Card along with the Red Sox, the chances of the BoSox getting into the playoffs are dwindling day by day.

The only thing that would be sweeter than this 5 game sweep right now? Beating the Mets in the World Series this year.
