i dont really have any sport-specific information related to basketball at all, but as far as bulking up goes, you just have to eat more calories than youre burning in a day while focusing on continual weight progression in the gym.

give us some basic stats (weight, bodyfat, current diet, training regimine)

stay away from any white strach foods with a high glycimic index(GI). Eat 5 meals a day with high protein intake like your meats, tuna, oat meal, chicken, red meat, nuts. And your fatty acids(omega 3/6)from avo, nuts, olive oil. Then for carbs use rye rice, brown rice-anything low GI!if you will be eating your straches ,eat it before 3 in order to get it burned. Shakes are also good meal alternatives, but nothing beats your whole food!!

constructing a diet based around GI scale is pretty much useless.

especially when your bulking I cant see anything wrong with white pasta or rice. GI is just another fix diet that tells you half truths. for example your foods gi i altered by mixing it with other foods. fat slows absorbation. and the gi value is based on 50 g of carbs and your blood sugar will be significantly higher if you munch down 300 g from brown rice than 50 g white
