ok: start the wednesday before your show. apply at night and wash off the excess in the morning. by friday you should have a good base (you should've also been tanning in the tanning bed). apply as many coats as necessary (i've put on 4 or five the friday before a show) and don't use that shitty applicator. get some latex gloves and pat it on. works much better and ends up smoother. also, try drying yourself with a hairdryer or fan in between apps. it's best if you can just walk around naked and "air out" for a while. if it is needed, one last coat can be applied very early the morning of the show (color takes approx 6-8 hrs to develop). best of luck and post your results!

strange thing though...

you mention the color builds in 6-8 hours or so.
but when i apply it, thats when i'm the darkest.

6-8 hours later the color is still there but not as prominent.
