    Default Pointless competitions
I wanted to compete, well, I thought about it. But then someone made me think. What are you competing for?! A trophy! You're putting a shit load of stress to get prepared for a contest, which is not good on your liver, kidneys, etc. It takes a toll on the body, even tho it's a month or two. I figured, if I ever do compete, I'll wait till I'm 30, after I pack on 20 or 30lbs of muscle. If you want a trophy so bad, go on ebay and buy one for 10 bucks.
I'm just gonna get big, for myself.

mate u r going through a phase which is called "****ed up mind"

buying a trophy is no big deal but taking part in a competition is.. even if u dont win the comp,40 yrs from now atleast u will tell your grand children and great grand children that u were once a competitive bodybuilder...

buying a trophy is nothing compared to winning a trophy...

Falling in love with a gr88 girl is not like paying a good looking slut $10 and ****ing her..

compete or no compete ,still Best of luck

I'm not saying you shouldnt compete, I'm saying one should put a shit load of muscle then go compete. Instead of spending a shit load of money all the time prepping and competing for priceless trophy's, you can invest in food, gear, and getting even bigger. Then go and get a trophy. Some guys compete at 170lbs and I just think that's pointless. And no, I'm not going thru a "phase".

    then why compete in/for anything?

competition causes lots of stresses that you could avoid if you decided not to compete (this holds of everything). you compete becuase you love what you are doing and want to be the best at what you love doing.

Then sum up where you ARE trying to get. Don't compete until you have put on a "ton" of muscle? When will you be ready? When you look like Jay Cutler? I doubt that is EVER gonna happen. I compete to get into the best shape of my life every year. It takes guts, if you ever compete you will see what I mean. the only time a bodybuiling contest becomes pointless is when YOU make it pointless. And as far as the buy a trophy on ebay thing, surely you know how dumb that sounds.

See, you're getting there. You may not look as big as Jay Cutler, but you'll be beefy, then you can go and get your trophy.

Almost as dumb as winning one. Just think about it. When you have accomplished something, you can look in the mirror and be proud of yourself. Then you can go buy yourself a trophy if you really want one.

You've completely missed the boat. If you dont have the drive to compete then by all means dont. It's hard to understand why people compete in a sport like bodybuilding unless you've been to shows and possibly entered one or two. As a well respected bb in my area told me...." why dont you compete?" I replied, "because im not big enough." He almost got mad..."What the **** do you mean not big enough? Will you ever be big enough? I hate you young guys who cant see the big picture. Its not about the win, its about the challege and satisfaction." It made sence to me back then, but I have yet to compete..
