Beta-carotene is also a potent antioxidant which can help against muscle degeneration in your eyes and is great in preventing cataracts which is the leading cause of blindness in senior citizens. These foods also help your eyes by supplying substances that regulate your blood, which means that it is also great for diabetics, and is great in preventing diabetic related eyes diseases like glaucoma.

Macular degeneration (which is the number one cause of vision loss in senior citizens) which can cause premature aging and deterioration of your eyes is caused by a lack of antioxidants in your system and can put your retina at risk. Be sure to consume vitamin C and E, carotenes and small amounts of the mineral Selenium which can aid and protect your sight.
