While science has yet to discover the magic pill that will cause instant weight loss and make us all slim and beautiful, there have been advances in discovering what foods and substances may aid the body in loosing weight. One such food is the Acai berry.
The Acai berry is a dark reddish-purple fruit that is about an inch long and is found in the acai palm trees that grow in South and Central America. Acai berries are similar to other dark berries like strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, etc. The established health benefits from eating dark berries like the acai come from their high content of antioxidants. Antioxidants are believed to boost the immune system and aid digestion. They also help the body’s cell production and can play a role in slowing the aging process.
Acai berries are also reported to aid in weight loss. Although there has been no credible research to back this claim one way or another, many people who use acai berries wile dieting report better, faster results in weight loss that dieting without using acai. Some theorize that the berries aid metabolism, helping the body burn fat quicker and more efficiently. Other add that the antioxidants in the berries make them more energetic, which in turns leads to more exercise and thus more weight loss.
Acai berries are available in health stores and more and more supermarkets are beginning to carry them in the frozen food section. People add the berries to their favorite recipes or to their breakfast cereal or as a topping to yogurt. Acai extracts in capsules are also available at most health food stores.
Science may or may not prove that acai berries are good for weight loss, but this is one food that certainly will not hurt you to add to your diet.
